Marquis’s history

Marquis is a village on Highway 42, about 32 km northwest of Moose Jaw, in the Rural Municipality of Marquis No. 191. It became an incorporated village on March 21, 1910.

The community sits on the Canadian Pacific Railway line, and agriculture has long been its main economic base. As in many Saskatchewan communities, its grain elevators were torn down during the 1990s.

Today the village has a general store with a liquor store franchise, a post office, a municipal office, a sand blasting and painting facility, and a service station.
